Since the announcement, this series has aroused my great interest, because today only Netflix is able to produce such an experiment that will shoot at a wide audience and not miss. Acid travel through alternate realities has never been so diverse and exciting. Let's see what happened in the end. Watch Любовь, смерть и роботы 3 сезон, zetflix.pro

The concept turned out to be quite simple and complex at the same time - to contact almost two dozen animation studios around the world and literally untie their hands so that they create a short film on any topic, but that there must be one of the three key components - love, death and robots. The illusion of control was given to Tim Miller, who directed the first Deadpool, and David Fincher, who needs no introduction. These two personally approved the script of each short film and it is directly felt that they received great pleasure from this. It's no joke - to communicate with dozens of talented authors and animators who can bring incredible things to life through CGI animation. The final result of their work was eighteen films that vary in mood, tone and concept. Not all of them turned out to be good, but all of them came out bright and memorable - in such a variety everyone will find something of their own, so I'm not going to retell every short film. Moreover, the realization of what is actually happening is the lion's share of pleasure. But to make your own rating from less interesting to really cool - that's all right.

Alternate Histories  - about possible options for killing Hitler. Of all the variety, this short film was my least favorite. Soft, but slightly primitive animation is accompanied by a truly delusional video sequence in which one development of events is more delusional than another. Taking the theme of alternative history as a basis, the authors with each new iteration break through the bottom of idiocy more and more. Although in terms of humor it turned out quite funny.

Ice Age  is about civilization in the refrigerator. Here the authors combined computer animation and live actors. By the way, the only series where living people in the flesh participate. The whole timekeeping does not leave the feeling that in one form or another it has already happened somewhere. "Doctor Who" and "Orville" showed a similar experiment, but here he does not even really have time to open up.

Sucker of Souls  - about an archaeological expedition that stumbled upon a demon. Another semi-primitive graphics, but not without style. The rough brushstrokes and jerky animation create an interesting feel, but the plot itself doesn't impress word-for-word at all. Although, for cats, you can add a couple of points on top.

The Secret War  is about elite soldiers of the Red Army and demons in the depths of the Siberian forests. The CGI animation looks more than cool, but the very concept of fighting vile creatures in the wild Russian forests is like cranberries for a kilometer. A very strange film, precisely in aesthetic terms, which, moreover, makes full use of a car of stereotypes. Birch and balalaika are included.

blind spot - about the daring operation of a gang of cyborg raiders. The work, by the way, of a Russian animation studio. Already for this they have a couple of points above. The story itself is as direct as possible, like a tunnel through which the heroes travel, so there are absolutely no surprises here. The design of the cyborgs turned out to be quite good and sometimes even curious. The concept reminds me of Mad Max with a non-stop chase, which is also good.

Fish Night  is about a father and son stuck in the middle of the desert. Here and below, more pleasant and interesting work begins. A sad and beautiful story, in which there is a lot of fantasy and interesting images. I haven't seen a good cell-shading animation for a long time - it seems a little forgotten about it, but it can still be an interesting visual solution.

Suits - about a community of farmers protecting a herd of cows from an alien invasion with the help of homemade combat furs. What will definitely annoy is the style of animation with missing frames per second. It's funny that such a short film can be used as a screensaver for some tower defense game - it would fit perfectly. The mechs here are big and stylish - in the spirit of American retro muscle cars, but the aliens here are the spitting image of chrysalids from XCOM.

Helping Hand - about an astronaut with a broken oxygen cylinder. Further and below - heavy artillery and the best, in my opinion, short films. A little story of sacrifice takes place in outer space, which is already full of dangers, and then there's this. The animation is excellent and to such an extent that it becomes very unpleasant to watch at a certain point. But this does not detract from the fact that the short film looks great.

Shape-Shifters  is about werewolves in Afghanistan. There is a trace of the "Black Mirror" here, but with a fantastic component. The segregation of society within one military base is shown more than well, and the action scenes turned out to be excellent. The main character's wooden pants annoyed me all the way, but otherwise there is no complaint about the animation.

The Dump - about a landfill resident and his pet. It's a funny story that has to endure old men's naked cocks, but the humorous tone dilutes the creepy concept. With stylization, the animation is doing well, so it looks in one breath.

Good Hunting  is about the son of a werewolf fox hunter. Animation in anime style, which gradually changes the focus from magic to technology. A little abruptly, but on the whole, quite adequately, the authors show how society is being transformed under the influence of technology, and for the atmosphere of such an exquisite steampunk, I am generally ready to forgive any shortcomings.

Sonnie's Edge - about illegal fights of monsters on telepathic control. Nice visuals and simply gorgeous design of monsters. It reminded me a little of the movie "Real Steel", and although the ending was not unexpected, I still liked it.

Lucky 13  is about a newbie pilot and her first ship. A harsh but touching story of friendship between a rookie pilot and a ship. The voice-over form of the story immediately betrays the ending, but visually the short film is good to the point of impossibility. All of these pilot operations brought to mind Starship Troopers and their pilot heroes.

Winter Blue - about an extravagant artist and his final creation. Hand-drawn animation that made it to my top 5. Here is technogenic cyberpunk, and interesting visualization with asymmetric proportions of the characters, and an excellent second layer, and gradually revealing intrigue. In an unfortunate 10 minutes, the authors manage to tell an interesting story and unexpectedly end it, leaving food for thought.

When the Yogurt Took Over  is about creating an ingenious yogurt. Despite the fun, unpretentious animation, in the bowels of this short film there are deadly cool allusions to modern society and human nature. As a result, you get tired of what is happening and at the same time think about the fact that for all the absurdity of what is happening, the story is not so far from the truth - and this is scary.

Three Robots - about three robots on a tour of the remains of human civilization. Lightweight irony over modern society  through the mouths of the  speakers of three robots. Numerous references fill the visual space, and the cheerful ending leaves a pleasant impression. Plus, there are several references to gaming culture, which makes me even more happy.

The Witness - about a girl who witnessed a brutal murder. The first thing that strikes you is the unrealistic level of graphics. Watching the realistic swaying of a silk robe on a naked main character is even more interesting than watching the main character herself. The second is the incredible style. Something at the junction of Asian quarters and Soviet interiors with three-meter narrow doors. Plus, it visually evokes associations with "Ghost in the Shell", although in history it's a completely different story. I started to guess about the final twist already in the middle, but the ending still managed to surprise.

Beyond the Aquila Rift - about the ship's crew, who woke up after a hyperjump. Everything is perfect in this short film - the atmosphere of dangerous space, and the reference to the game Mass Effect, and long flights with unpredictable consequences, and illusory realities and terrible truth. The authors play with the viewer all the time and give out the truth gradually and dosed. It also has great animation and surprisingly great acting.

It should be noted that all stories, without exception, are positioned as adult content, so scenes of sex and violence regularly flash in the frame. Severed limbs, fountains of blood, dangling genitals and naked bodies flicker with enviable constancy, although not in every work. So it's better not to show this to children.

As it recently turned out, Netflix with this anthology decided to experiment with the method of presenting the material and prepared several options for the sequence of episodes at once. As a result, the order of short films may differ for different users. Yes, it does not matter - each of them is a separate story, in no way connected with the others.

"Love, Death and Robots" is an impressive experiment in which different studios created different short films in style, manner and content. Created under the production supervision of Tim Miller and David Fincher, each story has something to offer and as a result, each viewer will be overwhelmed by a wave of various emotions, so you cannot stay away from such a spectacle.
